NEW DELHI, Jan 16 — The private separation of India’s six-time world boxing champion has erupted into a bitter public feud, with the Mary Kom divorce controversy dominating national headlines this week. What began as a customary split has devolved into a war of words, with serious allegations of financial embezzlement and infidelity being traded between the former power couple.

The issue reignited earlier this week when Mary Kom appeared on national television. Breaking her silence, the Olympic medalist accused her ex-husband, Karung Onkholer (Onler), of cheating her out of crores of rupees and forcing her into political maneuvering.

"He Stole My Money": Mary Kom’s Charges

Speaking to the press, Mary Kom described her marriage’s collapse as the "darkest phase" of her life. She alleged that she discovered the financial betrayal only after sustaining a career-ending injury.

"I was bed-ridden... It was then that I realized that the man I had trusted was not what I believed him to be," she stated. Her primary allegations include:

  • Embezzlement: Kom claims Onler withdrew large sums, including ₹10 lakh at a time, from her accounts without consent.

  • Property Fraud: She alleges he took loans in her name and transferred titles of land purchased with her earnings to himself.

  • Political Pressure: Kom revealed that Onler "forced" her to demand a BJP ticket for him during the 2022 Manipur Assembly elections—a failed bid that allegedly cost the couple ₹2-3 crores.

Onler Strikes Back: "She Had Affairs"

Karung Onkholer, who managed Mary’s career for two decades, has vehemently denied the financial charges, adding a new layer to the Mary Kom divorce controversy. "Check my account," he challenged, stating he currently lives in a rented house in Delhi.

Former cricketer Manoj Tiwary initially expressed disappointment in Mary Kom for "publicly humiliating" her ex-husband, though he later deleted the post.
